Home is Where You Are
I have lived in 11 states, from Alaska to Virginia and many in between. I have witnessed a wheat harvest in the heart of Kansas and the migration of Sand Hill Cranes near Sacramento. I have indulged in Buffalo wings at the restaurant that birthed them and mastered the art of picking blue crabs in Maryland.
My journey has included stops in major metropolitan cities and small-town Americana, each with its unique flavors, festivals and fanfare. I’ve been fortunate enough to have met some amazing people while living, working and serving in these communities.
From from the world’s largest children’s museum (Indianapolis) to one of the smallest universities in the country (Kansas Wesleyan University), the range of organizations I have served is broad. Within seven industries I have honed a breadth of transferable communications and marketing skills that have enabled me to make an impact in nonprofit organizations and various enterprises across the country.
I have met youth, adults and families experiencing homelessness and food insecurity, warrior women who have beat breast cancer and sent telescopes to space, veterans who have served our country, and people with limited abilities who have unlimited courage and joie de vivre.
Being a transplant most of my life, I have learned to adapt quickly, meet new friends and thoroughly explore each community and state, often in deeper ways than the natives. And, I can pack and unpack a house in three days!
This incredible journey has brought me to a place in which I am able to take everything I’ve learned from my experiences (and the amazing mentors and colleagues, neighbors and friends) and apply it to my professional and personal life in the hope of creating meaningful change and extraordinary impact in my community and the world.
Home is where you are, and I’m currently nestled in the heart of Northern California among vineyards and olive trees, and most importantly, close to family.
